The Road Back Tuesday March 19, 2019
I saw the doctor yesterday and was told I could start exercising if I felt up to it.
Well, I do and I don’t. The half hour drive to and from the doctor’s office just about wore me out, I get fatigued far too easily since my surgery.
It’s going to be a bit of an uphill battle at first, not sure if I’m ready for it but I’ll start out slow and how far I can take it.
Since it’s Tuesday it’s Stretching and Calisthenics day, maybe not such a bad way to start.
I have to start slow so instead of five sets of eight reps I just did three sets of eight. Well, mostly at any rate. Considering the nature of my surgery I decided to omit the roundhouse kicks for the time being. Discretion is the better part of valor.
Most importantly I’m also skipping the ab wheel for quite a while, I foolishly thought once the visible incisions healed I would be good to go. As it turns out that’s not the case, the three small incisions are just the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. They just made openings so most of the work could be done under the skin. There is a subdermal suture line I need to be careful with.
Ah well, I have to start somewhere, so here is what I did today.
- Standing Bicycle Crunch Three sets of eight.
- Horse Stance Cross Punch Three sets of eight.
- Oblique Knee Raise Three sets of eight.
- Leaning Knee Raise Three sets of eight.
- Front Kick Three sets of eight.
- Back Kick Three sets of eight.
- Push-ups One set of ten
- Body Weight Squats One set of five.
Normally this would be a very easy, even a lazy day, but not so much today, just about wore me out. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow, soreness wise to decide if I stick to three sets of drop down to two.
I neglected to mention I somehow let myself get fat, again! Somewhere between 185 and 190 pounds. Got some work to do.
